Brown, Hay + Stephens is the oldest law firm in Illinois with its roots dating back to 1828. In the early years, many of Illinois’ finest attorneys practiced here including a young Abraham Lincoln. It was important that a new website captured their history and tradition, while also being forward-thinking in appeal and design.
The previous website for BHS was old and outdated. It lacked a visually appealing design and did not provide a good overview of the services that BHS provides. Nor did it do a good job of showcasing their talented attorneys.
It was important that a new website maintains aspects of their history in the State of Illinois, while also showing that they are a forward-thinking law firm.
The previous website also lacked an easy way to update their site content and to relate attorneys to the services they each provide.
Along with a website redesign, BHS also underwent a rebrand. This really gave us a clean slate and fresh start in terms of the design of the site. Their rebranding efforts were very successful and once complete, we were provided with the new brand assets and branding guidelines. We were able to take these as the starting point for coming up with a completely new design.
First, though, we worked with BHS on overall site architecture and navigation flows. We also provided content strategy and copywriting assistance to make sure their site content appropriately conveyed their firm's personality and professionalism.
With a new brand and new content, we were then able to come up with a new responsive design that looks great on a tablet, mobile, and desktop devices.
In order to help them maintain their own content and website, we also implemented Craft CMS as the content management system of choice. They now have the flexibility they need in order to keep their site up to date and looking great well into the future.
